Photography
I am not a photographer. I am a guy with a couple cameras, who likes to take pictures. I seek out compelling and visually striking images, but my overall knowledge of how to really tweak a camera such that I can produce these effects regularly, is minimal at best. However - and that said - I have been lucky enough over the years to get what I consider to be "professional" shots. I realize that some of these hold extra special meaning for me, and are less likely to be something someone else would want on their wall, but I had to put them on here anyways. Ya never know, do ya?

In any case, I really like doing things with teh camera - more than I like taking pictures. I really like depth of field, delayed exposures and macro images. Again - I like detail, color and motion. I tend to shoot things in nature - I love sunsets, plants, water and animals. Contrary to how I draw, I rarely shoot people, unless there is something decidedly cool about the shot. I'm not big into portrait photography though. If anything, I like candid, spontaneous photos of people. I HATE posed. I like capturing people as they are - with their reactions, their emotions out on the table. I've gotten yelled at about this more times than I can remember, but that is always my argument... because it's true. I can only have so many pictures of a group of people, posed and forcing a smile at the mention of "cheese". I have a photo of my friend Mikayla, which I am unable to show on here due to sensitive content - but which was caught at a moment that was not timed or posed - she is smiling, so big, and so true and so beautiful... and it was because someone had said something that she was reacting to. Had she known I was taking a photo at that second, it wouldn't be as incredible of a shot - I guarantee it.

In any case, most of my photos are digital. For a long time I had a top-of-the-line digital camera which these days is the rough equivalent of something you can buy at CVS for $19.95. However, I learned a lot using that camera, and now that I have newer, though not-so-top-of-the-line equipment, I employ the same techniques that I learned using that one. My most recent acquisition was a waterproof camera, so a lot of what you will see for recent stuff will be exploiting that function. I do have a few good film photos, but I have been shooting in digital for so long that I rather prefer it. And if you guys buy enough of these, I'll finally be able to afford a real, serious DSLR and take even more! So...
