"Eft"

These little orange/red guys were all over the place in the woods behind Crow Hill in Leominster, MA. I was there to go climbing with my buddy, Matt. As we ascended the back side of the hill to set our top-rope, these little salamander-like lizards were basking all over the rocks. I asked Matt what they were, and in his usual exaggerated way he says things, he said, "Efts". We went back and forth for a minute or two while I tried to interpret what he actually said. An 'Eft', huh? Never heard of it. But I managed to get close to a couple of them to get their pic. This is one of the better ones.
