Part of the 'Bar Napkin Series', "The
Eye" was meant to illustrate vision into both the good and
bad in one's life. Each of these was drawn to exemplify a part
of me that had been either hidden at the time, completely repressed,
or as a means to visually depict some aspect that I was trying
to reach. In all of these, the dark lines and tribal design is
really meant to describe the controlled chaos of my life, and
the white, blank 'canvas' as life around me and the future I have
yet to fill. "The Eye", drawn in the center of the image,
inside the black, but right on the edge - is meant to show that
though I was still kind of caught up in my world, I was getting
closer - or rather that life was getting closer to me - that I
could start to see it, and that my future was coming into focus. |
