I
had this vision of an almost-cartoony, silhouetted man standing
on the edge of a very steep hill, kind of leaning into the wind
- challenging it. It's the representation of my own struggle with
life and how it seems like all things are against me. I left the
tree devoid of leaves, give for one gold one. My use of the single
gold element in this painting is similar to how I used it in "Reaching
for Love" - as the last bit of bright future, and the
struggle for the prize. The man is challenging the wind to come
and blow away that final leaf and leave him with nothing. |
